Stage 4: Implementation of Remediation and Validation of the Site

The final stage of the contaminated land process is the implementation of the RAP or remedial strategy and the validation of the site for its intended use. Using specialised O2 consultants means this process is relatively pain free as the strategy to remediate the site and the program of validation has been planned and documented in Stage 3. This is not to say that on complex sites with poor site history often leads to the discovery of contamination not detected previously during the remediation stage or even by civil contractors working on the site when remediation has been completed.

The above scenario emphasises the importance of the DQO process and the appropriate development of a SAQP by matching the sampling densities during Stage 2 to the site history in Stage 1, if there are a myriad of over layering contaminating activities on a site over time.  If the scheduled activity occurred a long time ago, then often the site history of the contaminating activity can be inconclusive. Therefore, a competent contaminated land consultant, such as those employed at O2, will increase the sampling effort during the Stage 2, thus saving the client expensive delays and unexpected costs during Stage 4 in the process.
